Fifth Grade

The 5th graders at Temple Heights Elementary challenge themselves everyday in all areas of the curriculum.  In language arts, we learn the comprehension strategies and skills that good readers use while reading.  We apply those strategies and skills we have learned in our anthologies to various novels and different kinds of literature.  In math, a heavy emphasis is placed on fraction concepts, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing them.  In science, we study the weather, the solar system, chemistry, solutions, the systems of the human body, and plants.  A highlight every year is when we dissect a frog.  Students also use iPads as a tool to demonstrate what they have learned and synthesize new information.  Send us a message if you have a question!
